National Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance
Companies listed on the Maldives Stock Exchange and other companies registered in the Maldives are eligible to apply for the Government of Maldives Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance starting from January 2009. The award for excellence in corporate governance was announced in March 2007.
The broad criteria for the annual award include the following;
Work undertaken to adopt good corporate governance principles and practices.
Contribution to significant development of corporate governance practices.
Promotion of initiatives for the enhancement of future corporate governance practices.
Note: - The CMDA reserves the right to alter the award criteria with prior notice.

The applications for the National Award closed at the end of December 2008. Applications were received from the following Companies.
- Bank of Maldives Plc
- Maldives Tourism Development Corporation Plc
- Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc
- State Trading Organization Plc
CMDA has sent the Corporate Governance Award applications received to the President's Office / National Award Committee on 15 September 2009 as the National Award selection authority has been given to the National Award Committee as per the directive no:2009/58 (Government Gazette Publication dated 16 August 2009).
