CMDA undertakes review of the existing laws and regulations by assessing the market structure and operations on a continuous basis. As such, these laws and regulations are reviewed in line with the standards of IOSCO and international best practices in order to ensure greater investor protection and an environment more conducive for investment by both domestic and international investors.
The objective is to strengthen the legal and regulatory framework through a phased process. The first phase focuses on assessing the appropriateness of legal and regulatory framework for the Capital Market given its size and complexity by identifying gaps and weaknesses. The second phase focuses on drafting and revising laws and regulations in alignment with international best practices.
